THE KINGDOM OF GOD: Here Now & Forever
Saturdays, 6:30pm (with potluck dinner at 6pm). We’ll meet on April 26 and May 3, 17, 24, and 31.
Our class Youtube Playlist can be found here.
Often the Kingdom of God is thought of strictly as something to come in the End Times or as we go to Heaven. Jesus taught a fuller meaning of the Kingdom of God, not only as something to come, but also something in the here and now. This class will examine how the Old Testament prophecies, Jesus' life, teachings, and sacrifice, on through to the writings of Luther and later commentators relate to our understanding of God's Kingdom. We will also explore the concept of God's “Kingdom on the Right” and “Kingdom on the Left,” which deal respectively with our spiritual and ultimate relationship with God and with our relationship with others and worldly affairs. In the latter kingdom, we have a God-given vocation, so the subject of Christian vocation will be discussed.
The class format will be presentation and discussion. A comprehensive set of notes will be provided. Contact Pastor Mark Behenna for more information.
